AI-Enabled Rehabilitation at Scale: Youdon Rehab Raises NT$105M to Build a One-Stop Physiotherapy Service

Youdon Rehab (生生優動), the clinic brand under MeiCore Technology (梅科科技), operates a chain of physiotherapy clinics founded in December 2020. By integrating AI with physiotherapy, Youdon provides personalized exercise prescriptions tailored to each patient.

From Pain to Recovery: Why AI Matters

Chronic low back pain seldom resolves with insurance-covered device therapy alone. Patients typically require 1-on-1 manual therapy and exercise therapy on a self-pay basis to gradually return to function.

Chairman Wei-Hung Chang (張偉弘), drawing on years of pain-management experience—and as a patient himself—observed that rehabilitation is progressive. Diagnostics, treatment plans, and home exercises vary over time and must be recorded to assess improvement. Existing digital tools, however, are not designed around the actual workflows and SKUs of self-pay care.

Leveraging its track record in digital transformation for aesthetic medicine, MeiCore has brought this know-how into physiotherapy. Under the Youdon Rehab chain, patients manage pain with AI tools that standardize workflows across sites.

As of May 2024, Youdon Rehab has raised NT$105 million and opened 15 physiotherapy clinics, 2 pain clinics, and 1 performance center in Northern Taiwan.

Scaling Physiotherapy as a Chain

This isn’t Chairman Chang’s first healthcare venture. Over the past 20 years, he helped establish Beitou Health Management Hospital in Taipei and led Star Clinic Group into mainland China—experience that now underpins Youdon’s operating playbook.

Despite the growth of self-pay sectors such as med-aesthetics and OT/PT, supporting digital systems remain nascent. In 2019, MeiCore launched YueRong Aesthetic Cloud HIS for Self-Pay Clinics, which the company reports has achieved 17%+ market share among Taiwan’s aesthetic clinics.

YueRong Aesthetic Cloud supports standardized workflows, imaging management, consumables inventory, e-consents, and LINE OA integration for appointment reminders, post-op follow-ups, targeted messaging, and satisfaction surveys.

These capabilities now power Youdon’s multi-site chain, enabling rapid format replication and operational consistency.

Be Accelerator Managing Partner Ian Chen notes that MeiCore’s prior digitalization of med-aesthetics provides the operating system Youdon needs to scale fast.

AI Inside: From Clinic to Home

Patients may visit Youdon pain clinics directly or bring existing hospital diagnoses to a Youdon physiotherapy site. Each patient onboards via Youdon (優動) Home Rehab App to book visits and review records.

In clinic, SMARC rehab equipment is fitted with on-device screens; patients tap a card to load their cloud-stored exercise plans and train per individualized protocols.

Because home-exercise adherence was only 23%, therapists now combine their assessment with Youdon’s AI algorithm to recommend a customized exercise prescription from a library of 1,500+ home movements.
Youdon is also co-developing a smart training shirt with multiple sensors with a U.S. partner to measure movement accuracy remotely and improve outcomes.

Every Youdon site features standardized equipment layouts, private manual-therapy rooms, and compact training zones so patients receive the same quality and flow at each location.

According to Chairman Chang, compensation is key to attracting talent. While 1-on-1 sessions cost more than NHI-covered care, Youdon provides true one-stop service: each site staffs physiotherapists and exercise specialists, with ~80% employed full-time, and pain physicians stationed at the two pain clinics.

Financing and Expansion

Youdon completed NT$105M in funding:

  • Series A (2024): NT$60M, led by Be Accelerator — ZhiKang Fund (智康基金).

  • Series A+ (2024): NT$45M, led by LienHeng Capital (聯橫資本).

MeiCore plans to establish ~50 self-pay physiotherapy clinics across Taiwan to solidify the chain brand, while exploring turn-key “chain export” to Malaysia and Singapore, aiming to build Asia’s largest OT/PT chain.
