Connecting Taiwan with Global Healthcare Innovation: TMU × BE × SCHS Demo Day Brings Together MedTech Startups from 7 Countries to Accelerate Clinical Validation and Cross-Border Collaboration

Co-hosted by BE Health Ventures, Taipei Medical University (TMU), and Show Chwan Healthcare System (SCHS), the 2026 TMU x BE x SCHS Demo Day: PULSE HORIZON took place on July 17 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. This year’s event brought together 10 MedTech startups from 7 countries, including Taiwan, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. The event attracted healthcare systems, investors, corporate strategic partners, and industry experts, showcasing Taiwan’s ecosystem strength in connecting clinical fields, innovative technologies, capital, and international markets.

Three Core Tracks: 10 International Startups Showcasing Clinical and Commercial Strength

This year’s presenting teams included Aulea Medical, AISI X, Brainmate, MacroInsight Innovation, Luminopia, Machnet Robotics, Omnilabs Research, RADAX.AI, RadiRad, and Xandar Kardian. Their technologies covered three major tracks: AI and digital health, smart surgical technology, and next-generation physiological monitoring.

Six AI and digital health startups presented solutions spanning AI medical imaging, clinical decision support, digital therapeutics for pediatric amblyopia, remote rehabilitation, and cognitive care for dementia. Two smart surgical technology teams focused on minimally invasive surgical devices for benign prostatic hyperplasia and cardiovascular interventional robotics. Another two next-generation monitoring teams leveraged radar-based contactless technology and single PPG signals to advance continuous vital sign and cardiovascular monitoring.

Several teams have already demonstrated international clinical and commercialization achievements. U.S.-based Luminopia’s VR-based digital therapeutic for pediatric amblyopia has received FDA authorization, been included in the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s clinical guidelines, and accumulated more than 11,000 prescriptions. Xandar Kardian provides contactless heart rate and respiratory monitoring through FDA 510(k)-cleared radar technology. Taiwan-based MacroInsight Innovation can complete mammography image quality review within two seconds, while RADAX.AI uses AI to assist physicians in detecting intracranial aneurysms as small as 3 mm. Together, these companies demonstrate the full innovation journey of healthcare technology, from clinical needs and technology development to regulatory validation and market adoption.

International Panel: Experts Discuss Capital Efficiency, Clinical Evidence, and Cross-Border Market Entry

The event’s featured panel discussion, titled “Reimagining Healthcare — The Next Frontier for Innovation, Investment and Adoption,” was moderated by Dr. Yvette Lu, Europe Investment Director at BE Health Ventures. Panelists included Christopher Potts, Chief Business Officer of Persephoni BioPartners; Dr. Jaemin Park, Managing Partner of Heal Venture Lab; Rudi Pauwels, Co-founder and Chair of Praesens Foundation; and Yiu-Lian Fong, Founder of DxRxPM Biotech Consulting.

The discussion explored how healthcare innovation can overcome key barriers between technology validation, clinical application, and commercialization. Panelists shared insights on capital efficiency, clinical evidence generation, product commercialization, and cross-border market entry, highlighting strategies to accelerate market adoption and international expansion.

Since 2018, BE Health Ventures, Taipei Medical University, and Show Chwan Healthcare System have continued to integrate hospital clinical resources, accelerator support, investment networks, and international partners to help MedTech startups reduce product development and market entry risks. Demo Day is not only a stage for showcasing results, but also a key platform for facilitating physician consultation, PoC collaboration, clinical adoption, investment matching, and strategic partnerships.

The organizers stated that the value of healthcare innovation lies not only in technological breakthroughs, but also in the ability to address real clinical needs, build trusted clinical and commercial evidence, and identify the right partners to support market adoption. Moving forward, BE Health Ventures, Taipei Medical University, and Show Chwan Healthcare System will continue to deepen cross-sector collaboration. Through the Asia Hospital Network, they aim to support more MedTech startups in completing clinical validation, product adoption, and international market expansion, further strengthening Taiwan’s role as a key hub for clinical validation, innovation collaboration, and cross-border market connection in Asia.
